Me, myself and I...now.
If you watched the new season of american idol, you will have noticed that there are quite a few asians..compared to the previous 2 seasons. And these asians are usually really dumb...which is really embarrassing for mua. There was this guy who rapped in japanese, another who wanted to be hong kong idol (he pronounce l's as r's) and this horrendous chinese girl who sang american songs with the chinese opera method.
That chinese girl skipped high school, is now studying at harvard and plays 3 instruments. yet..she has no brains or sense to listen to her own voice and compare it to what the preceding american idols had. !!! okay..her parents are all professional singers....but what many americans do not know is that chinese professional singers sing differently. They sing in a shrill, 'vibrating' way...it's hard for you to understand cuz you haven't heard it. That's why that chinese girl sounded so weird. grrr..
HAPPY CHINESE NEW YEAR!!! it is now the year of the monkey. I was totally unaware that yesterday was chinese new year til my dad told me.
At this time, families would come together and have a reunion dinner...which usually includes a 9+course meal with lobster, sharks fin soup, and other traditional chinese dishes. We would visit friend's homes, and the elders would give the children and young pple hong baos, or red packets, containing $money$! The most i got was maybe $50..my frenz with wealthy relatives would get a few hundred!! grr.... Then there will be celebrations on the street and the lion dancers (below) would come out and there'll be gongs and drums...fun. also fire crackers.
3. dress warmly! hat, gloves (mittons are better, finger warmth circulation), scarf, long johns, 3 pairs of socks, ski pants or something water proof over a few layers (jeans or khakis not good, absorbs waterand you will be wet and cold), don't worry bout shoes, they provide really good boots, chapstick, lotion, sunscreen. REMEMBER: it's better to bring more clothes than you need, you can always take it off (in the bathroom..heh) If you can, bring extra clothes just incase your pants rip..(read below) if you can, wear a coat that will cover your butt....so you have a softer landing and your butt won't get so cold.
4. bring food. the ski resort overprices their food. bring a sandwich..juice, waterbottle, cereal bars, fruit..stuff that gives you energy.
5. if you want to use lockers, make sure you bring quarters. put in the locker all the important stuff that you have, and put your not so importnat stuff on a shelf. this is because you will be going into your not so important stuff a few times..for food and water, and extra clothing. the important stuff, like your shoes, put in your locker, which you will only open once...so you don't have to pay again after opening and closing.
6. STRETCH them muscles! Stretch your thigh and calf muscles, they're the muscles you're going to use the most. also stretch out your arms so you won't pull them if you fall and need to pick yourself up.
thanx for reading my humble opinions. if you have other tips, u could email them to mua, or just write them on the tagboard. :D
well...the guys were..really rockin it. they went on aLL the slopes, some of which are pretty difficult...and they hardly EVER fall. which makes me really MAD! I have this thing, when I do something, I want to be able to do it so I'm pretty good at it, if not really good. I could do the heel technique well (when you dig your heels in, turns left). but I want so badly to be able to alternate heel and toe (dig toes in, turns right, look at pic)....so it'll look abit like a zigzag.
it was only in the last hour we were there (we stayed till 6, the lights were on :) that I was able to go on some other slope beside the lowly bunny...cuz of events that required me to stick with my frenz...argh. well anywayz, went to the easiest of the other slopes besides the bunny. went on it twice. and it was during this last hour that I finally got a little used to going toe. and it was here that my pants started to split..HAHAHA! i knew they were, cuz i had so many layers on. luckily my coat ws long enough to cover it good. well, i didn't know how bad the rip was, thought it was just a litte bit. so went back to the lodge when everything was over..and at the locker place, took off my coat cuz it was so warm...and like..5 mins later hannah came..and i sked her if my pants were ripped bad...not to my knowledge, i showed like maybe 6 pple my back which was split all the way the back...ARGH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! and my pants are pink on the inside. haiz...thank goodness i didn't walk around with that..psh.
so, that's it..we drove back home.....most of us with a strong conviction of trying this crazy sport again. :D
(psh, like I'll be able to do that..)
The moon was up soo early yesterday. it was only 5 o clock and i could see it's shining face a little higher than the horizon on the way home. It was a full moon. There's higher crime rate and other weird stuff when there is a full moon..weird.
The moon is very important actually. watched a part of a documentary on the moon. without the moon, the the earth would not be able to rotate on its axis, it would rotate and the axis would spin at the same time. Climates in regions would go crazy, places which are cold would become hot and vice versa. the polar caps would melt and flood the land.
Thousands of years ago, the moon was much much bigger. I forgot why the moon became smaller. The moon is constantly shrinking though....and as the moon shrinks, the earth's axis is affected, it tilts over a little. The Sahara Desert is the result of that little degree of change.
The moon also shields the earth from flying objects approaching earth. This is apparent from it's numerous scars.
there was much more...but Jessie bumped me off the TV :(.
Watched Armageddon starring Bruce Willis, Ben Affleck and Ive Tyler (arwen in LOTR). Wet my eyes, but opened them. Story in about a texas-sized asteroid approaching earth and what this group of drillers-made-astronauts do to prevent it from destroying the globe. It shows that love is worth fighting for and how one person can change everything. All fingers up! (yeah..corniness. )
AHHH!! I'm sick of trying to look for a hairstyle that'll fit me. Been searching the net for pics of choppy layered hairstyles. I don't trust the hairdressers here...i wonder if they have to have some sort of degree or certificate in haircutting before they start a hair salon or be a hairdresser. I just shiver at the thought of entrusting my hair to some novist who will ruin it....... I guess I'll just have to attempt to draw it. BTW, isn't that cat so cute? haha...looks like my brother, he's having his hair cut by my mom right now, haha.
my friend hannah fixed my guitar, and she doesn't even play it. My sister's friend's brothers had did something to the guitar, making the strings all loose. I thought they had pulled the strings so hard till they stretched and it was irrevocable. However, all they did was turn the guitar pegs...haha...I was so happy when Hannah fixed it. Me and my non experimental, non trying person.
I want to learn all those acoustic techniques. visited Dansm's Acoustic guitar Page, and I just can't seem to do the techniques. like hammer ons, pull offs, bends..what the heck. maybe I don't got the right guitar. Mine's a i-don't-want-it-you-can-have-it guitar. it's really old, scratched up, strings a bit rusty...but better than nothing.
we high school girls made a team..and we were strong and united. we won against a whole bunch of korean people, who usually win. so we were SOO happy when we won..they were real pissed. heh. we made it to the finals..but we got third place..:( better than nothing..we got $50 prize. the first prize was $200 and second was $100. whoo...maybe next year.
