Let me quickly highlight day 3 to day 6 of LBSLI
Day 3
Took a fieldtrip to General Electric in Wilmington MA, took about 2 hrs to get there. If you don't know, GE is one of the largest international companies that has numerous branches that manufacture different products. The branch we went to was the infrastructure branch. Had an overview of the company, had lunch, took tour, viewed products. Went back...we watched how to lose a guy in 10 days on the bus, love that movie.
chilled at the gym that night..and played volleyball with peeps i got to know...2 of them were in teams, 2 others weren't, but rocked!
Day4
More business stuff, and crunching of numbers. We had a lunar module exercise, building mars spacecrafts (mini ones) while being timed and utilizing the least amount of parts. it was fun watching them race at the end, especially when they hit each other and go round in circles. ours didn't even make to the semis..:(..oh well. it was really frustrating at times..
that night, we had another opportunity to visit the gym, however, our group decided to stay behind cuz they were tired...not me tho, i was ready to go swimming. but we had to stay together in a group. and our super counselor Michelle called the organizer and asked permission for us to stay behind. so we just listened to music, talked, played cards..learned a new game called Mao from Kim, which is mad fun. I'll teach you guys one day in one of my posts..
Day 5
Fleet bank visited us, gave us an overview of their company. There were 7 of them, and i think 5 were from Bryant too. One of them told us a bunch about credit cards, keeping a good credit history and other good stuff to sink our baby teeth into.
It was a hectic afternoon, preparing for the presentation of our company mission, positions, product, strategy, logo, jingle and advertisement for the next day. ALOT of drama yo... firstly, I was gonna draw the product (designed by mua :) on a poster, so I started, and got all into it and stuff (with back and side angle too)..then the other team members were like, hey, maybe we could draw it smaller and scan it to put into a powerpoint presentation. so i was like..omg. then we went upstairs to the lab, and they decided that they should just create it all on computer...kinda crappy since we could only create the front view... Cristina, was away at an interview, and when she came back and saw THEM making the product and logo on the comp, she was like kinda mad cuz she believed that we could have done much better. anywayz..long story..we did it all on comp, then her headstrong self decided to do the product parts over, and so she asked me to draw it all out, and like i didn't want to, and not everyone was happy since all their work would be wasted.
deep breath...okay. but we finally changed it, and I was actually glad, cuz we were the only group who had such in depth drawings of our product. got an honorable mention for that actually..MAD WE DIDn't actually get an award for that!! wth..
That night, we went to Newport RI, and took a cruise on the Bay Queen. The food was yummy, and the water was absolutely gorgeous. Took a bunch of pics on the top as the sun set...luvaly. I was so relieved when they removed the food tables when it was time to dance...there was hardly any space b4. The DJ looked kinda old and corny, haha..but the music was the bomb! was dancing all night..and we could write down songs we wanted played. I put in right there and heyya. had classics like cotton eye joe, electric slide, step step (was ROCKIN that) .. and other R&B and HipHop songs. I found myself gravitating to the blacks..who KNOW how to dance and have a good time. haha, they were kinda surprised that I could follow their moves... Because there were way more girls than boys, I think i felt more comfortable. for some others, that was the most boring dance of their life cuz there weren't no guys, but i thought it was the best.
Day 6
Anywayz..the highest peak of anxiety and craziness was 1 hr b4 the presentation in front of the parents at the awards and goodbye luncheon. So our group managed to change everything last minute that morning right..so we saved our stuff onto the disk..or so we thought..!!! Cristina, never satisfied with what we have, decided to go back and change yet SOMETHING ELSE on the presentation..and thank GOD she was a pain in the butt..again...cuz we found there was NOTHING on the disk..so i was like..no way. hahahahha. now I'm laughing about it, but it was heartstopping then. so me and Cristina ran back to the office (ya, we worked on the office comp), to check if we had saved it on the C drive.. NADA!! sooooo....I ran back to the dorm to get the other team members.. am i confusing you? anywayz, i ran back (in my high heels!!), got the old disk, ran back again..and changed everything we had changed..good thing i have a superb memory.. i was sweating like a pig...omg. i can say..thanx to me, we had a successful presentation in the end...heehee. with music for the jingle, the presentation on the beeg tv in the luncheon room, and us totally coordinated and practiced in speech.
We got 1st place in our industry (there were 2 industries)..which was a total surprise. and at the end, the counselors of each group gave out the awards to their corresponding members. I was soo sad, I was never gonna see any of these great talented peeps ever again...and the person i was gonna miss most was..my counselor. such a caring beeg sister, always there to make sure everything was a ok... i was like crying when i went up to get my award..gave her a BEEG hug and then ran to my seat..mad embarrassing. time of the month...lah lah..
I was lucky to say goodbye to all the pple I made friends with..i didn't want to be one of those pple who just left without ending this short chapter of their life properly.
ah...Just want to Thank God for this great opportunity, it was amazing.
