okay..here's what happened last weekend:
friday: helped Mr Sohn wrap roses. the process included plucking the dead petals off the roses, stripping the leaves and thorns off the bottom half of the rose stem, then packing them in clear plastic sleeves. It was a mess..leaves and petals everywhere. we had alot of roses...ALOT..don't recall how many tho. I did the half dozen bouquets..they came out good. did that till 8:30..had pizza :). then went over to ayaka's place to relieve her of unwanted clothes, which was good for mi :D
saturday: went to NY to this dentist who is part of my church..but he sucked yo. he did me and my 2 brothers.. our appointment was from 11 to 1pm..and he started late...asked us to manually brush our teeth with a toothbrush and was only able to clean my teeth. he took some x rays of our teeth..but that's to persuade my parents subtly that we need braces so he could get more cash.. ARGH!! we went all the way there for that crap..can't stand it. and if we were to make braces, he expects us to go there every 2 weeks? and he doesn't charge us cuz we're in the same church okay..but he charges our insurance extra..so i dunno, our rates go up?
then we went out to eat to celebrate mother's day at this bangin' penang (malaysian) restaurant. it was crazy getting there..and as usual, i was the navigator..the right hand of my dad..I was a right hand with no head. haha..yeah, we got lost and went around and around this place which had chickens and really bad roads that had automobile parts shops and really rough looking pple..omg, i thought they were gonna jump us or something..so scared. that's why i HATE family trips, we get lost, get mad at each other, and argh..nothing goes right....I'm sure we're not the only family that goes through this, but still..
okay..after getting back from NY, was dropped off in bpt to sleep over at the Sohns cuz we wake up real early to sell the roses on sunday. ayaka was there recuperating from the nights of incessant exam cramming and last minute packing to move out of the dorms. yeah..she was real tired, and she had to take care of the sohn's children the whole day. they were knocked out too..
had pizza..worst pizza i ever had..just starchy and greasy..also from dominoes..ugh. the chicken kickers were worse than frozen food and we got cheesy bread instead of cheesy dots..whatever yo. I rather have some authentic italian pizza than their nasty stuffed up pizza.
anywayz..prepared food for the next day that night..I made japanese riceballs ;) erm..slept pretty late..past 10.
Sunday: sunday...woke up at 4:30 for morning pledge, then set out. we rented a big truck to carry all the flowers...which was cool cuz i got to sit in the front :).. we went to waterbury and a town a little further out. me and masami were situated at this getty station which always brought in an average of $3000...so that was our goal. we only got to $2600 tho..with 3 buckets left. but i thought that was really good, broke my own record. so we were left with a car, while Mr sohn, Mrs Sohn and Ayaka went to the other spots. first, we wrapped the half dozens that included 3 red roses and 3 colored ones...the only ones that weren't wrapped. and it was MAD cold...our fingers were numb and everything...took us about an hour..then we went back in the car..ate our breakfast sandwiches..then sold flowers to whoever came. there was one asian dude who was acting all ghetto..haha, he was like 'yo, whassup, yo hook me up with a deal man..' psh..it was funny..
after the freakin' long day (we just ate and ate and ate the snacks that we had and sat in the car), Mr Sohn recounted his worries in the car. The forecast was that it was gonna be storming..and he was quite certain that this would be the worse mother's day ever..and it would be a miracle to even break the cost of the flowers..however, it only drizzled here and there, keeping the flowers fresh, and it was sunny in the afternoon.. also, in the morning, he couldn't find his selling license, and he thought he was doomed cuz the policemen always came to check! however, this one time he lost it, the policemen didn't come!! is that shweet or what. during dinner, he was like..in heaven, haha, he said he felt like he just went on vacation. ya, we went to hama restaurant, this japanese restaurant that is FAMOUS in new haven..the sushi and everything was the BOMB!! wow..I couldn't believe how good it is yo. anywayz..I got paid..$210!! ya, after hearing $2600, you would think I got more..but actually $210 is like twice as much i got last year. which is cool. $$$$$!! got home..tired..slept.
something i wanna add about saturday..on the way back from NY, we past this bridge, dunno which one..and it was a traffic jam..so we were just sitting there and suddenly, in front of us, there was like a whole bunch of dark black smoke! we were like..what the heck?! it was a car burnin up, and the policemen had to let a whole bunch of the cars behind it go through so the fire engine coming from way back could get through. and our car was the last of those cars that got through past the burning vehicle..and as we passed it, I could feel the heat wave brush my cheek...it was freaky!! Thank God that we got through safe yo..
